To infinity and beyond... well, nearly! (Keynote address by Associate Professor Helen Chick)

To infinity and beyond... well, nearly!

Have you ever wondered what a billion dollars actually looks like? Or how big infinity is? Or how best to teach students about very large numbers (and why you should bother in the first place)? You are not alone! Associate Professor Helen Chick has been wondering these things too.

Infinity (and very big numbers) can be hard to comprehend. They're also hard to find in the Australian Curriculum - Mathematics. Helen Chick delivered a stellar keynote at the Mathematical Association of Tasmania's Conference this year about the importance of teaching very big numbers and how to go about doing this. MAT is thrilled to offer educators in the north of Tasmania the opportunity to hear Helen’s keynote “To infinity and beyond – well nearly!”. Please note that this is a repeat from the MAT Conference.

Cost per person: $10 (MAT member) or $15 (non-member); groups of 10+ can register for $10 per person if registering in one order.
